ENERGY STAR Tool
ENERGY STAR Tool
Natural Resources Canada is encouraging food retailers in Canada to start using the ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager in order to maximize their competitive edge by reducing their energy consumption.
Energy STAR Portfolio Manager is a free, online interactive energy management/benchmarking tool that allows a building owner or energy manager to track and assess energy and water consumption across an entire portfolio of buildings in a secure online environment.
On March 25, 2015, Natural Resources Canada released a new Canadian 1–100 ENERGY STAR score for supermarkets and food stores in Canada that will provide powerful metrics so they can quickly understand how their stores are performing relative to similar stores.
The U.S. EPA reports that even $1 in energy savings can translate into $59 in increased sales. In addition to demonstrating sound fiscal responsibility and increasing the bottom line, these savings also attract over 60 percent of consumers who have explicitly stated that they wish to make their purchases from companies that are environmentally responsible.
Food retailers can find out about thethousands of Canadian buildings that are already reaping the benefits of using this energy benchmarking tool.
Natural Resources Canada can provide a road map and tips to help food retailers get started with ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager – the national tool of choice to support benchmarking needs.
